FIRE BRIGADES’ BILL.
I iPer Press Association.) Dunedin, last night.A deputation from the Eire Brigades’ [ Association waited on Sir J. G. Ward this evening to urge that a draft of the Fire Brigades’ Bill, approved of by the Fire Brigades’ Conference, should be taken in hand by the Government and passed into law next session.
Sir Joseph Ward, in Veply, referred to I the strong foelmg shown against tho Bill I last session. He thought the Government I would do their best to get the. Bill through I this Session. He did not see why the I evidence now obtained should not be reI garded as sufficient without going over the ground again. He thought the common sense of the House would lead it to the same conclusion. He strongly favored the Bill in the interests of fire brigades and in country districts some system was required. He would convey to his colleague Mr Carroll—the opinion expressed by the do putation and ask him to submit tho matter at tbe earliest moment to the Cabinet.
