John Rae, a jockey, when returning from the races at Hamilton on Saturday, crossing .between some horse-boxes on the train, fell between the carriages. His left foot was so badly crushed that it had to be amputated at the Hospital.

He slipped while putting on the brake going down hill.

John Henderson, aged 58, a C3rponter, who has been ia the employ of the Railway Department for sovon years, was killed in the goods yard to-day. He had been set to work to adjust and rebed the buffer stop. He guyed the post with ropes on tho one side, but not on the other. Evidently while coming out of the excavated hole the heavy post from some unexplained cause fell on him on tbe guyod side, pinning him to earth and killing him. He had been working alone. The body was found about noon, life being extinct.
