STERILISING BONES.

A FARMERS’ PROTEST. Per Press Association. Dnnedin, last night. The Otago Provincial Council of the Farmers’ Union has forwarded a letter to the Minister for Lands enclosing resolutions passed with referenoe to bone sterilising plants, urging that in view of the frightful danger to flocks and herds, the Government, even at the eleventh hour, should retrace its steps and refuse to sanotion the importation of bones until provision for their sterilisation in New Zealand is made. Xt is suggested that the cost of sterilisation might be considerably lessened by the erection of one oentral plant at Wellington. In conclusion it is stated that general surprise, was expressed e*t tho meetiog that the Government has cot paid more attention to the reiterated opinions of farmers on a question of such vital importance to them and tho country at large.
