SPEEDY WARSHIPS
(Her Press ’Association.) Wellington, last night. H.M.S. Psyche, which Bailed from Wellington at 5.30 p.m. on Monday, passed the East Cape at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The distance is 334 knots from Wellington, the Psyche thus showing an average speed of 15.2 knots an hour. iI.M.S. Enryalus, which sailed at 9.15 a.m. yesterday, was reported as having passed Castlep'oint at 1 p.m. This distance being 103 knots, implies that the vessel maintained an average speed of slightly over 24 knotß an hour,

On the passage from Wellington to Auckland thß warships underwent fall speed over the distance of 564 nautical miles. The Euroylus averaged a little over 21 knots per hour, although at times 21£ knots were registered. The Challenger averaged about 19.2 knots, and the Psyche 17 knots. The latter was off Tiritiri first, the Challenger second, and the flagship third, but the latter covered the distanoe in the shortest time.
