f e (Per Press 'Association.) Nelson, last night. The steamer Charles Edward to-night-reported that on passing Cape Farewell Spit those on board saw a new barquentine ashore. They did not know the name, but believed it to be Hatrick and Co.’s (Wanganui) new vessel. The steamers: Himitangi and Defender were alongside. The vessel was off the end of the. Spit, and. about three-quarters of a mile inside of: deep water. The sea was smooth at the. time, and it would be 4 or 5 hours off high, water.
