BABY SHOW.
Thare was a crowded audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last evening to witness the baby show, and ther keenest interest was manifested in the proceedings. About or thirty iciauia were submitted to the judgment of those present and after a good deal of consideration the honor of securing the first prize fell to Master ■Frank Bidgood, seven month old, who turned the scale at 22Ibs. Tkero wore several more weightier babies shown, one six months weighing 231bs, whilst. Alfred Lawrence Sharp, 4£ months old.was 221bs. The decision was a most popular one, and the child,and its mother were accorded a great reception when the result of the competition was made known. The ages of the babies shown varied considerably, ranging from 3to 9 months. The winner was presented with - a very handsome gooart. The musical competitions provoked much interest. Mr Joe Hart was awarded the palm as the best comic' singer in Gisborne, whilst T. F. :Walsh won tne dancing competition. The mouth organ oompeti- , tions was one of th>e best items on the programme, and was finally won by one of the audience, who, after hearing the two competitors perform, himself oarne for- ! ward and won the trophy. The bob apple competition and picking sixpences out of dishes of water and flour were oontests full o. fun for the boys and provoked endless laughter. In the first part of the programme several members of the Woods Williamson Coy. contributed items and altogether a most* entertaining evening’s amusement was provided. .

The St. Louis Exhi-I intion had many; sights,, and the liv- ! ing representation of the great train robbery, showing the way the roadmen of America hold up trains and secure the plunder, was one of the best patronised exhibitions at St. Louis. Hundreds of thousands visited this great sight daily, and Edison, being to the front again, paid a. tremendous sum of money for the Sole right to take this great sight for reproduction on the biograph Then operators were engaged to take this panoramic picture, and the result was the finest set of pictures yet shown on a screen. A strong company of entertainers will support the pictorial portion jof the programme. One feature of Mr Montgomery’s programmes is that all classes of the community can Bafely, pay ai yisit to the entertainment .without having to regret that they did so. .The. entertainment is Elevating ap'd instructive.
