Blenheim, last night;’ -.0 l When the Compensation Coart re-j assembled this afternoon * Mr Jsjsticai Cooper announced that its members had been unable to agree upon an award in; the Flaxbourne ease. He said tbe claim* was L 335.000, and tbe highest valuation! on the side of the respondent Ministf?? for* Lands was L 146,000, so that the difference in the issue was nearly L 200,000.5 After oarefully considering, the ; priDftiples| upon which compensation should be.; assessed and the evidence adduced for* claimants and respondent respectively, ho: himself arrived at an amount which in hi', opinion was full compensation -within provisions of the Act. That amount war very much in excess of. the amount which the respondent’s assessor was of opinionfchey should be awarded, and very jjtind below .the amount which claimant’ll assessor thonght should -be . paid, antf neither assessors felt he could , agree will his Honor’s -vassessment. In .justice til claimant his Honor could not reduce th\ amount ho thonght they were .entitled tel and in justice to respondent lie could nc?j agree with the claimant’s assessor.'
