ROWING.

The heat in the soulling last night for F. Harris’s trophy was between B. Jones and J. Smith (7 secs). This was an interesting event, as it practically meant a meeting of tho preßont acknowledged champion of the shed as against the old timer, and it resulted in an oosy win for the latter, Jones winning by about three feet. Smith did not get far in his seven seoonds start, and Jones, with his long swinging stroke, soon made up his ground, and at the bridge had the lead. He eased up a little and Smith got up to him, when Jones spurted again, getting a good load. He eased up at the gasworks and allowed Smith to get up and the two boats raced together till near the finish, when Jones put.in one or two toiling strokes, just winning on tho post. To-night Pritchard i (7secs) and Sohrafft will meet and another I good raoe should eventuate. •
