WANGANUI NEWS.

(Per Press 'Association.) Wanganui, last night. The,Wanganui Garrison Band returned from the Auckland contest by the midday train, and met with a great reception. They marched to Cook’s gardens, where over 2000 people assembled, and addresses of welcome were delivered by the Mayor and Mr KomiDgton, member for Bangitikei. Conductor Crichton was presented with a handsome gold medal from the citizens. The entries for the Wanganui Bifle Association’s meeting on Thursday and Briday constitute a record. Marksmen from all parts of the North Island are competing. _ The now range at Putiki, recently acquired, will be used for the first time.
