Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. will hold their next sale at Matawhero on Wednesday instead of Thursday, the change being made owing to the Turanga Church fete being held on Thursday. A number of racehorses were shipped to Napier last evening, amongst the number being Hinetapuariki (which has been sold and goes to Mr Hickey’s stable at Hastings) and Mahutonga (which goes to oompete in the Wanganui Cup meeting). At the inquest at Greymouth on Saturday on the body ,of Charles Gordon, alias Claud Revans, a post mortem examination showed a revolver wound in the mouth, extending upwards, causing death. Deceased apparently fell into the water when he. shot himself. The evidence showed that 'deoeased purchased a revolver and 50 rounds of ammunition a few days before. Inspector Wilson identified the body as that of Claude Revans, of Palmerston North. A verdict of suioide while temporarily deranged was returned. By tbß 'Tarawera last evening Messrs J. Coleman, A. J. Masuey, and F. Martin left for WolliDgton to ploy for the bowling championship of New Zlealand. The skip of the team, Mr J. Ponaford, is already in Wellington. deoent language when under the influence of liquor he should leave it alone. He had been sentenced to seven days' imprisonment on an almost similar charge last August. Accused was convicted of using obscene language, and sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment in Gisborne police gaol, being discharged for the first offence.
