BAND CONTEST.
' (Par Press Association.) Auckland, Saturday. vXhis afternoon the North Island Brass Batfd Contost was brought to a oloso at domain orioket ground, when eleven bands in the military marching contest.- There was an attendance of about 20,000. The weather was fine, though overclouded. On the points being deolared it was found that the marching contest had been won by Wanganui Garrison. The championship was also annexed by Wan- , ganni, who, with the musical points in the march added, came out with a total aggregate of 385, as against a total of 868 gained by Wellington. Kaikorai was third iu the with 352 8-5. At the oloso of marching a drum competition was hold. This was won by J. Smith and D. Osborne, of Kaikorai band.
