The Tairua Broken Hills returns ore 170 tons of slimes for 41306 ; Mahara Royal, 100 tons of ore for £l9O. The new Eclipse mine, Tararu, crushed 146 tons for gold valued at £lOOl. Palmerston North, last night. J. B. Wishart, a well-known manufacturing jeweller here, was arrested this morning on three charges of receiving stolen jewellery, whioh it is alleged he j knew to have been dishonestly obtained, j Accused was remanded to Wellington. Bail waß allowed.
Dunedin, last night. The Health Department inspector has seized and condemned as unfit for human consumption 226 out of 1700 oases of bananas ex Navua, from Fiji. The Star has authority for Baying that the Port Chalmers Dock Trust has successfully floatod its £75,000 loan at 5 per cent., the entire loan being taken up by one large financial institution.
