(Per Press Association.) Hawora, last night. , In the District Court to-day, before J Judge Hazelden, Tutaugi Waionui, a chief '>• . at Paereroa, was sentenced to five months’ hard labor for perjury. The case arose out of {denials concerning the supply of native women with liquor. j* Two other natives charged with perjury V were discharged. ' . Christchurch, last night. j At the Supreme Court, Robert Rutledge, ! '■ charged with shooting with intent at his • wife, and with assaulting her, was found V guilty on the second couut only. Sentence r was deferred till the morning. c k Arthur Ernest Eldred was convicted of * breaking into tho dwelliog of Goorga tSutherland, champion cyclist, during noon -if' and atoaling clothing aDd trophies valuod , - 4 at L4O. He was sentenced to nine months* V i imprisonment. J ' Thomas Joseph Walsh was charged with } committing incest, and with ’indecently J assaulting his daughter two and a half V I years old. The evidence showed’that the j child had contracted venereal disease, from t>which the father was suffering.
