EAST CUAST NEWS

TOKDMA'RU, BAY* February 9. On Saturday last, the 4th inst., Mr A> C. Forrester, who haa been suffering for the past 12 weeks, passed away peacefully . about 2.80 p.m. Deceased was only forty-two years of age. Ho had strained his heart some t years ago when lifting heavy weights, and recently had an attack of rheumatic fever, heart troubles and congestion of the lungs eventually causing his death. Ho left a will, naming Messrs H. H. Fairlie and W. Oates his executors. He leaves a wife and six little ohildron to mourn their loss. Daring Mr Forrester’s illness Mr Fairlie constantly waited on him and gave him every attention, besides attending to his business affairs. Deceased was born on York Peninsula, South Australia, and was apprenticed to the I cabinet-making trade, not liking the confinement he left it and found employment on one of the large stations in tho northern territory for several yoors, coming to New I Zealand about 22 years ago. He was in I the employ of A. Buckland and Sons, and also with Sargood and Son, Auckland, and I after which he was for a time in Poverty Bay, end the last 15 years he spent in 1 Tokomaru Bay. He was quite a genius, I and could turn his hand to anything, no I class of work coming amis3 to him. He I was always a ready helper in any local I gathering, and he will be greatly missed by the whole community. The funeral I took place on Sunday at 3 p.m. Mr Busby i read the burial service, and a large gathorI ing of residents and settlers from tho back I were present. Mr W. Forrester, brother I of deceased, landed- on Sunday morning by the Tarawera, having loft his home at 1 | Whakapirau, Kaiparo, on Friday morn- ' I ing, but was too late to see bis brother 1 1 alive.
