HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.

BICE’S DRAMATIC COMPANY.'

—— .'•'-'h* ' )/■ Last night tha Rico Dramatic Company a highly successful performance of the interesting military drama *• Facing : the Fafe,” before a largo and enthusiastic V : audience. The mounting of the play was ji : excellent and reflected muoh credit on the Company, who have spared no pains to supply all necessary details.whioh is so essential in a work of this olass. The orchestra, under the able conduotorship of *Mr Gitfcos, was a strong one, and played a lively overture and rendered great assistance throughout the production by supplying the incidental music. The cast of the i drama is a strong one and each character 'was oapitally allotted. Miss Rachel Bice, as Nadine, gave a charming interpretation thereof. This young lady possesses much ability, combined with a graceful stage demeanour, and never, failed to win the admiration of the large audience present. As Mrs Cleopatra Bull, Miss Ray Nelson had a congenial part, which suited iter admirably. Miss Esther Dalroy’s efforts as Countess Woronzoff wore much appreciated, whilst Miss Flossie Sawyer did good work as Mona. Mr Alfred Rice -made an excellent Colonel Jack, -and 'throughout the play sustained the part with excellent military demeanor. Mr William Falknor gave a favorable im;vpersonation of John Davenport. Mr Thos. Holdsworth made a decided hit as Monsier Alphonse Grenoville, which role suited him better than any we have : yet seen him pourtray, and he is to be congratulated , v on the success achieved. Master Alfred Rice was really excellent in his pourtcayal of the Cockney Joe Cricket, .his coster dialect being perfectly typical thereof. As Mr Jonathan Bull, Mr Richard Clark did really good work, and never failed to bring out the strong points of the role. Mr James Robb was equally successful as Paul Davenport, whilst the X remaining members of the company filled the minor parts of the drama with a good stylo and finish. The production from start to finish was highly creditable, and much praise is due to the whole company for the manner in which they have worked* "We hope soon to see this capable company appear in another interesting work, which, if produced on the same t- scale as that of last night, must please the ’ ' eruioal audience.
