The Board of Control has decided that the times of play, division of profits, and appointment of umpires of the test crioket matohes shall be exactly similar to 1902. Lord Hawke, Dixon, and Warner will choose the teams. OPENING OF AUSTRALIAN TOUR (Per Press 'Association.) Auckland, last night. The Australian criokoters returned from Rotorua this afternoon delighted with all they had seen in the thermal district. To-morrow they oommenoe the first match of their tour against the Auckland fifteen in tho Domain ground, commencing at 2 o’clock. Tho toam will not be finally selected until shortly before the match starts, though it is believed that Howell, who injured his finger just before leaving for the colony, will bo one to stand down. The weather is now set fair, and there seems every likelihood of it being fine when the match commences. Mr Yates has prepared a splendid wicket, and with fine weather it will be as fast as any that has been used on the domain, though not of course - equal to the billiard table wickets whicli tfaa visitors are used to in Australia. The local men have been practising very assiduously Biuce the declaration of the team, and some fine batting form has been shown. The bowling too is by no means to be despised, and enthusiasts anticipate that the Auckland representatives will make a creditable display against their formidable rivals. UNION V. GISBORNE. , The above teams met at the Victoria Domain yesterday afternoon, when the general order of things was reversed, Union winning by 150 runs. Gisborne batted first, and wore all disposed of for 47 runs, of which McPherson claimed 27. Torkington bowled splendidly for Union, and captured five wiokets for 25 runs. M. Sheridan also bowled well, and secured tho last three wickets for 10 runs. On Union going to the wickets Torkington and Lang commenced merrily, and put on 30 runs before tho latter fell a victim to McPherson for 16. M. Sheridan then joined Torkington, and tho pair kept the fieldsmen busy for half an hour. Several changes were made in the bowling, but runs continued to come quickly. With 80 added to the total, Sheridan was bowled by Butler for 33. He played a very nice innings, his log play being particularly attractive. Torkington was run out shortly afterwards for a sound, forceful 68, with only one ohahee, near the close of his innings. J. Andrews and Rico were the only other batsmen to get going, and both batted with confidence. Andrews was run out when he had made 36, and Rice was bowled by Peebles for 13. The innings closed for 197.
