Unexpectedly the pressure on the Japanese right was relaxed, General Griponburg trying to capture the villages south of Heikontai ond surround tho Japaneso with a view of throatoning Yontai and Liaoyaug. Field-Marshal Oyama on tho 28th, finding tbe Japaneso still unable to recapture Heikontai, encouraged his columns to a night attack, though oxpeoting annihilation owing to numerous machine guns. Tho columns attacked with all their might, tho Russians ovaouating Heikontai at dawn.
Gonoral Oku’s extreme left wing is now on tho right bnuk of the Hunbo. The Russians admit 13,000 casualties. , It is estimated that 100,000 combatants wore engaged at Heikontai. The Japanese have re named Dalny Tairen.
General Kuropatkin reports that a patrol exploded the railway five miles south of Liaoyang. General Stoessel has arrived at Colombo. He denies that newspaper correspondents adduced facts to the support of the allegation that, tho Port Arthur surrender was unjustified. Dr Morrison’s (the Times’ correspondent) statement was absolutely incorrect.
Russians in Paris claim that Captain Clado convinced the majority of the North Sea Commission of the presence of torpedo boats at the time of the attack on tbe fishing fleet.

General Kriropatkia reports that General Dombroosk was wounded in the leg while occupying the village of Cbantanohenan. Marshal Oyama reports the repulse of the Russians towards Chantang. The Russians removed tbreo hundred dead. Their casualties were 700. Sis hundred Russian cavalry, two companies of infantry, a battery of artillery, and a third detachment simultaneously attaoked Chiatailzu on Saturday. The garrison were holding their ground at the moment of the despatch of the reports.
