GISBORNE V. WAERENGA-A-HIKA
Tbo third match hotweon the above dubs waß played at Waerengu-a-hika on Saturday in porfoct wonthor. Neither teaniß had their full strentb, the oountry team putting in a vory woak team. Sefton won tho toss, and sent Gisborne into the field. F. Sharp and J. Leggott opened to tho bowling of McPhorson and Miskoll. The innings started in auspiciously, Leggett boing bowled by McPherson without scoring. Sefton followed, and shared the same fate when he had made 5. Foote was run out beforo he got going by a splendid bit of fielding and accurate return by Miskell. Tho Rev. Jennings followed, and gave Übert a very diffioult chance at mid-off, which was brilliantly taken. Bilham mode a single, aud was bowled by a good one from Miskell. Loughor thon joined Sharp, and the only stand of tho iDnings was made, Sharp played an aggressive game from the start. Ho took every risk and hit hard and dean. Loughor also hit out well, and was going nicely when a good return by Bright caught him napping, and he was run out. The wicket put on 30 runs. The next twosbats men Bea'son and Stacey, were dismi sed with out scoring, and Sharp carried his bat right through the innings for 32. The innings closed for 57. McPherson, Miskell, and Ilbert divided the bowling honors. Gisborne’s fielding was good, Bright, Jeffreys, and Witty doing some vory good work. McPherson and Gibson opened for Gisborne, Foote and Leggett bowling. Both batsmen played carefully, and took no liberties with tho bowling. At 38 Beatson replaced Footo, and in his second over yorked McPherson. Tho retiring batsman played a fine, free innings for 27, scoring woll all round tho wiokot. Ilbert skied his first ball behind the wioket, but it fell clear cf the slips. Ho gave no chances after that, and had 22 opposite his narno when stumps were drawn.
At the conclusion of the game the players retired to the college verandah, where fragrant afternoon tea was dispensed by Miss Jennings, and was done ample justice to by the thirsty players. The following are tho scores :

UNITED V. MATAWHERO.
The match United v. Matawhero on Saturday resulted in a draw. United batted first aod made 126, Matawhero responding with 108 for nine wiokets. Colcbart, with 39, shaped best with the bat for Matawhero, and gave a good display-
