SUPPOSED SUICIDE OF A WOMAN
(Per Press Association.) Wanganui, la«fc nightWhat looks like a determined case of suicide occurred yesterday, when Mrs King, a widow, about 35 years cf age, was drowned in the river. Deceased, whose body has not beoD yet recovered!, went to the further side of the river opposite to the town, divested herself of part of her clothing, and after wading for some time, walked ctrlrto a sandspft near the middle of-, the tbeteriver and - disappes.reds* Her 'actions were observed by some boys on the town,side of the river, who subsequently gave information to the police. She was employed domestically with a family at Aramoho, and in the morning, after telling one her employer’s children that she was going away, was seen to go across a paddock towards a creek, in which there is a deep water hole. The gate, however, was locked, and Bhe returned to the bouse, saying she was going to New Plymouth by the afternoon train, but would have to go to town afterwards. _ Another drowning accident is reported from Kaiwhangaroa, a little girl named Cameron being the victim. The particulars of this case are not yet available.
