• Figures relating to the number of sheep and lambs killed by various slaughter " houses and freezing companies of the 1 colony during 1904 have been supplied for the Department of Industries and Commerce by Mr Eichelbaum, general managor, for New Zealand, of Messrs Oppenheimer and Co., of New York. slaughtered. Lambs killed in the South Island number 1,493.593, as against 1,664,535 in 1903. Of this year’s total Islington contributed 357,440, Timaru 317,849, Belfast 222,981, and Ashburton 212,222, the four Canterbury companies thus accounting for 73 per cent of the total. In the North Island 1,474,263 sheep wore killed, a decrease of 320,152 on the 1903 figures, of which the Goar Company account for 371,825, Wellington Moat Export Company 350,645, Nelson Bros. (Tomoana) 194,132, Gisborne Freezing I Works 156,241, and Nelson Bros. (Gisborne) 126,297 being next. In this Island 629,304 lambs were killed, the leading figures being Wellington Meat Export I Company 176,568, Goar Company 139,457, I and Nelson Bros. (Tomoana) 91,057. Lambs show a decreaso of 84,676 for the I whole Island. The total 3heep killed for the whole colony is 2,160,749, and lambs 2,103,567, being decreasee of 579,937 and 406,528 respectively, when compared with J tho totals for 1903. I
