(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Allied Crossey, an ex-publican, wan found guilty yesterday of theft from the person, and was sentenced this morning to two years’ imprisonment. A young man named Albert Good, alias John Willis, was committed for seutonoe this moruing on three charges of breaking and entering. Charles Henry Cox was found guilty of broaking and entering and sentenced to four yoars, to be concurrent with la similar sentonco he is already serving. Dunedin, last night. Thomas Gray, who had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to indecent assault, was sentenced by Judge Williams this morning to 18 months’ hard labor. At tho Folios Court three young men, charged with taking trout with a not at Karitane, near the mouth of the Waikouaiti rivor, wore fined 20s and costs. The Magistrate inflicted a light penalty in the hope that it would deter othor campersout from committing the samo offence. The Bakers’ Conference adopted the prices now ruling in Dunedin, and asked other centres to adopt tho same. Auckland, last night.
The Senate passed tho commercial courso this morning. It provides for three years’ study, tho first examination two years after entrance. It covers French or German, history, geography, economies, mathematics or ono of tho following sciences : physics, chemistry and geology, and accountancy. The second examination a year later takes in commercial law, statistical method, commercial French or German, accountancy, or ono of the three soienceß above not previously taken, and two of the following : actuarial mathematics, industrial law, economic history and currency, and banking, languages and economics the same as tho B.A. ; general history, 1760 to IS9O ; B.A. Algebra, intermediate medical, physics, chemistry, geology, B.A. physical paper. Decision ns to tho second examination’s scope was deferred, Tho Senate concludes to-mor-row.
