Stronghold spurted four furlongs on the plough in 50 25. He was coughing as bo walked off. Sea Lion waß slightly lame bb the result of a bruised heel. Ho did strong half-pace work. Hilarity finished ahead of Antigone after four furlongs on the ton in 50sec. Buecleugh, alone, got over the same ground in 51. Pensive beat Cathron by three lengths over five furlongs on the tan in 1.4 Stepdancer, with over 8.0 up, went a mile and a quarter on the outside grass comfortably in 2.16 4-5. The little (mare went pleasingly. Lee-Enfield galloped six furlongs on the grass in 1.21 £. Master Alis, carrying all of 9.0, got over three-quarters of a mfle on tho grass in I.lS£-. After breakfast Glonawlet, with a big weight up, spurted half a mile on the plough in 52 1-5. Bennie Bray and Gay Spark, with light lads, did the some distance in 50 3-5, the former being the best.

At a meeting at Gladstone (Invercargill) a motion having for its object the amalgamation of the suburban boroughs, was lost by 15 votes to 12.
