J The Intercolonial Land aud Moroanfcilo Gazette states that Mr W. D. Lysnar has provod himself ono of tho most ontorprising of the young generation of settlers. Tho Rev. Fathers Mulvihill aud Furlong returned from Auckland yesterday afternoon. Mr and Mrs W. F. Rees returned to Gisborne Inst evening after a visit of 9 months to England, where Mr Roes has boen engaged on Privy Counoil business. Mr and Mrs W. S. Sinclair, formerly of Gisborne, arrived from England yesterday.
Mr C. Nield has been appointed delegate of tho Gisborne Brigade nt tho approaching conference to be bold at Dunedin in March.
Mr Rhodes has definitely decided to again oontest the Ellesmero (Canterbury) seat at the next general election. Mr Alfred Hill, conductor of tbo Auckland Leidortafel. and of the Auckland Orohestral Sooiety, has boen appointed organist and choirmaster of St. Paul’s in that oity.
