Napier, last night, The second wool sale of the season was held to-day, there being a large attendance of foreign and local buyers. The catalogue comprised 8956 bales, as compared wiliiliC 8159 last January. The sale lacked fidence, and it was evident that buycA were not disposed to pay the high price that had been ruling, and on the othe hand vendors were unwilling to take 1“' witb the result that a large quantity passed in. RECORD WOOL SALE AT NAPLES

Napier, last night. »_ The second wool sale of the season was held here to-day, when a total of 9097 bales was offered, the largest quantity yei brought under the hammer at a local sale. There was also a record attendance of . foreign and colonial buyers, but in sympathy with the latest London advices, and the fact that reserve values were very high, bidding at first was slack. Matteraj improved, however, as the sale progressed, and although a number of the lots wenty passed in, the majority of these wore afterwards quitted at satisfactory prices, although on the whole prices ruled 14-d to Id less than at the December sale. There was. however, a good demand for lambs' wool, which showed a l-.jd rise. For much - of the wool December rates wore fully .$ maintained. Quotations : Merino, very little offering, up to 9Jd for inferior, and half-bred up to IOJd ; crossbred up to 9td; coarse crossbred up to Sfd ; lambs' wool up to 9}d ; pieces up to 7£d ; bellies to,?
