Albert Walters, a bush worker, et!F ployed by Collincon, deposed to camp j! conversations*with accused concerning the, killing of cheep und dcor. He also said accused used to wear a fairly small boot, perhaps a size 7. Wellington, last night. Evidence was given by McDonough,’ a Y buabman, employed at Collinson’e camp, that accused bad been seen in tho locality on the morning of the day Collinson was shot, and that he was carrying a rifle and wearing a khaki colored coat. A number of witnesses were called to
identify articles found on accused when , j arrested, and some of these were recognised as having been stolen from bush camps in the Hawke’s Bay district daring the months of August, September, and October of last year. _ Detective Broberg deposed to the circumstances of Ellis’ arrest, and that before being seized he brought his rifle from a ( perpendicular to a horizontal I (This accused denied.) When asked hia name, Detective Broberg said, prisoner replied, 11 You will find that ont soon ts enough.” Prisoner admitted having stolen certain articles from Hirst’s bouse at Wbakarara. He subsequently admitted ' to Detective Broberg that he was Me*-, .
