WELLINGTON RACES. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The weathor was fine for the raoes, though threatening. Tho attendance was large. The sum of L 15201 was put through tho totalisators for the day, including L 1742 on tho double machine (Cup and Telegraph Hack) which paid a dividend of L 9 12s. Last year, without the double machine L 13701 was handled. The results wers :

Anniversary Handicap.—Gold Crown 1, Brighton 2, Wind 3. All started. Won easily by a length. Time, 1 min 41 4-5 secs. Diva, L 3 18s and LI 3s.

Ruapehu Haok Handicap. Master Alix 1, Matakakiri 2, Crichton 3. Coxswain, Leßeau, and Aotea were scratched. Won very easily. Time 1.15 45. Divs, L2 and L 4 12s.

Wellesley Stakes, for two-year-olds.— Munjeet 1, Marquento 2, King Billy 3 Glenowlet also ran. The latter led for a oouple of furlongs, when Munjeet took charge, and won comfortably by u length. Time 48 3-5 secs. Div., LI 11s. Wellington Cup. Nightfall ... ... ... 1 Melodcon ... ... ... 2 Jeanne D’Aro 3 All started. Splendid race. Achilles, Nightfall and Red Gauntlet wore in front for six furlongs when Jeanne D’Arc joined in. After a mile Achilles and Red Gauntlet were done with, and both Ghoorka and Melodeon moved up. Jeanne D’Aro and Nightfall were on terms as they turned for home. Then Melodeon put in a challenge and a desperate struggle resulted in ahead victory, with a neck between second and third. Quarryman was fourth. Time 2.35. Divs L2 11s and L 4 2s.

Telegraph Handicap.—Potrovna 1, Ballarat 2, Golden Lily 3. All started, but Red Gauntlet, Petrovna and Ballarat were in front the whole way, the first-named winning by a couple of lengths. Time 1.15. Divs L 3 and L2 7s 6d.

Tongariro Hack Handicap.—Lyrist 1, Sylvrie 2, Guelder Rose 3. Talune and Electric Gun were Bcratohed. Won by half a length. Time 1.43. Divs, L2 3s and LI 14s.

Nursery Handicap.—Marguerite 1, Probable 2, Medallist 3. All started, but Kaiuku led until entering the straight, when Marguerite went in front, and won by a length. Time, 1.4 1.5 secs. Divs, L2 3s and 16s.

Electric Handicap.—Master Alix 1, Coxswain 2, Solution 3. Stronghold and Valois also ran. Won very easily by two lengths. Time 1.2 35. Div., L 3 Is.
