The final heat of the double sculls event in the Poverty Bay shed for Mr Ellerbeck’s trophies was rowed off on Saturday evening, about half-past six, between J. Smith (str) and W. Schrafft, scr., versus M. Oman (str) and B. Lucas, 9 secs. A wedding of considorablo interest to local and coastal residents was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday morning, when Mr George Kirk, storekeeper, of Port Awanui, and youngest son of Mr E. Kirk, of Gisborne, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Bliss Annie Leonora Cornish, also of this town. The Rev. L. Dawson Thomas was the officiating minister. The bride, who looked charming in a dainty travelling costumo of cream serge and a blue chiffon hat, was given away by Mr P. G. Staff. The bride was attended by Miss Neal as bridesmaid, while Mr Norman Leslie attended the bridegroom The happy couple were the recipients of numerous usoful and valuable presents. Mr and Mrs George Kirk left on their honeymoon tour by the Moura.
