A NARROW ESCAPE.

(Per Press Association.) Wanganui, last night. A new arrival from America hod a nar, row esoape from drowning to-day He went for a swim at the heads, aud wfe carried over the bar by the tide. The spectators on shore thought the man wsa drowned, as they lost sight of him for i: half an hour. To tha general surprise, however. the man appeared on the south spit having been curried ashore by the break, rs and current. A boat went to his assistßuce and brought him baok to the beads.
