TWO SUICIDES.
FATAL BULLETS. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. An elderly man named W. Stephen Hutchens, a representative of tho Aus tralian Widows’ Fund and Life Assurance Society, committed suicido by shootiDg himself at tho Ccntrul Hotel to-day. Although not a lodger there ho was frequently about tho hotel, and to-day bo wont into the bath-room and shot himsolf, Ho was taken to tho hospital, whore after an operation ho succumbed. For tho pust five months deceased, who was novor knowD to drink, had boon staying at the Salvution Army’s Pooplb’s Paluco, whore it is stated ho was behind iu his payments, and asked for and was given time in which to pay. Christohurch, last night.
The body of a mun who hod apparently boon dead soma days was found this aftornoen in tho long grass in an unfrequented part of Hagloy Park. A revolver lay near by, and there was a bullet wound in tho body, whioh was identified as that of Arthur George White, a chim-ney-sweep, who had boon missing for some time.
