LAND BOARD.

The quarterly meeting of tho Hawkes Bay Land Board was hold in Gisborne at 10 a.m. yesterday. There woro present:— Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), and Messrs Matthewson, Hyde,and Groome. Tho following correspondence was read and correspondence : Tho Under Sooretary cf Lands wrote statiog that tho Police Department had no further use for section 135. Frasertown, and asked that it be disposed of. It was decidod to offer tho soction for leaso by tender or auction for 10 years. Tho District Surveyor (Mr F. S. Smith) reported upon accommodation house reserve at Wharekopae, suggesting that it be cut up into three sections, one section to bo for an accommodation house anil tne other two for different uses. It was decided that tho whole 100 aoros be offered for lease as an accommodation house reserve for 21 years. Tho Land officer reported upon value of section 50, block XIV, Hangaroa, stock reserve, valuing it at D 3 per acre. It was decidod to offer tho section for lease for a term of 14 years, at a rental based upon this value. W. Whyto also wrote ro noxious weeds growing on this reserve, Received, Mr W. MoNeill, who was reported os being a defaulter as regards residence on section 4, block VI, Uawo, wrote stating he has residdo on section since it was selected by him. The Land Officer reported upon tho matter and confirmed Mr MoNeil’s statement. Mr McNeill, lessee of section 6, block IV, Uawa (Wigan), wroto asking that permission bo granted to have part of his house used as a school free of oharge. Permission granted. Dora Spencer, lessee of seotion 1, block 111, Uawa, S.D., wrote asking for an extension of time to build and reside. Extension was granted until tho ond of 1905. Messrs Graco and O’Brien applied to have section 6, block XV., Motu, subdivided into two holdings.—The District Surveyor to report on the application to tho next meeting of tho Board at Napier. C. Richmond, lessee of sections 15 and 1, blocks 111. and IV., Motu, wrote Dsking to have about 525 acres of the western portion of section 15 transferred to S. H. G. Richmond. —Tho Land Office bo asked to report to the Board as to what effect tho granting of the application would have on the seotion. Mary Susan Mossman, the only applicant, applied for section sc, block XV., Hangaroa.—Approved. The Land Board’s authority was asked for tho receiver to pay over valuation of improvements on soction 3, block VIII., Waimota S.D. (Waimario estate) —It was resolved to instruct tne rccoiver to pay for costs of re sale, for rent duo Ist July, 1904 to H. G. T. Wyatt, £65 2s Od. Tho following transfers woro doalt with as follows : L, A. Bonifaco to R. H. Shanks, section 14, block 1., Waimata S.D. (Waimarie estate).— Granted. W. Love to A. E. Hodge, seotion 8, block VIII., Waimata (Waimaiie estate). —Transfer of half the interest to Mrs Hodge agreed to, the section to bo held as tenants in commoD. Hori te Ini to Rangi te Ngaio, section 3, block VIII., Nuhaka North. —Approved, subject to the improvements being satisfactory. Geo. Stubbs io W. C. Smith, lot 2 of S.G. Run 32, Hangaroa.—Deferred to the next Board mooting, a report to be obtained regarding improvements. C. H. Korte to H. F. and 0. Korte, seotion 9, block X, Motu.—Granted. '■ Otto. Nickel to W. McKay, section 24, Block 2, Motu.—Mr Burke appeared in l support of tho application, which was granted. J. P. Greaveß applied to transfer to Mary Dunstan seotion 2, Block VI, Willows' estate. Mr J. W. Bright appeared in suppoit of the application. Ho stated that Mrs Dunslan’s husband already held a section at the Willows, but the two were not contiguous,. Tho application was declined. Mr Clay waited on the Board in regard to securing a right-of-way through Love’s seotion to the river.—lt was left to him to come to an arrangement with Mr Love. Failing thiß tho Board would consider the matter. Mr Bright waited on the Board and stated that Mr Neil, Wigan, wished to exchange sections with his son, as tho latter section contained buildings sufficient for a family to live in. The Commissioner thought there could b 9 no objection to this. An application for transfer should be brought before the next meeting of tho Board.
