Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. Tho Agent-General reports under date Xjondon, lSth :—“ Tho stocks of Now Zealand mutton on hand aro light. Sales aro dull for all descriptions of mutton. The average price to-day of Canterbury mutton is 4£d per lb, other brands of North Island 4 3-Sd. A small shipment of lamb realised 6Jd. Beof is very dull. The average prioe i.. for hind quarters is from 3d to old. BntP ter is firm. The average prioe of choicest New Zealand butter is 100 s cwt. Cheese is steady. Tho average price of finest New Zealand cheese is 02s. Hemp is quiet. Prices arc siightiy weaker. There is scarcely any demand for cooksfoot seed. Tho average price of bright, clean New Zealand, weighing 17ib per bushel on spot is 50s. Quotations are nominal. The next series of wool salos commence on tho 17th inst. The total quantity offered will be not less than 145.000 bales, which will include 29,000 from New Zealand. There • is every indication cf an advance in all grades of crossbred wool.”
