A WHALE'S VENGEANCE
By Telograph—Press Association—Copyright Hobart, Jan. 16. A search party has definitely established that the missing barque Briorbolme has been wrecked. The body of jono of the orew has beeu found. Adelaide, Jan 16. x The new barquentine Aloxa, bound from London to Wanganui, has put in for repairs. Her steering gear carried away on November 26tb, 4000 miles from Adelaide. A temporary tiller was shipped, which also carried away. A jury rudder was fixed. The vessel met with continuous heavy weather, and was much buffetod. Perth, Jan 16. A whale attacked and destroyed a boat containing two fishermen. The men managed to reach the coast on the wreckage.
Wellington, last night. Tho barque Itata, from Liverpool, arrived last night. She experienced rough weather on the voyage, and on December 10 an A.B. named Hyland, who was engaged stowing the jib, was washed off the jibboom and drowned. Nothing could be done to assist the unfortunate man owing to the high sea running. Deceased was formerly a seaman on the barque Northern Monarch, wrecked near Patoa about 16, mouths ago.
