CRICKET.
SATURDAY COMPETITION, GISBORNE V. TARUHERU. The matches in the Saturday competition were continued on Saturday last. Matawhoro won their match against Wao-renga-a-hiku by default, and Taruheru added another win to their unbeaten record by defeating Gisborne rather easily at Taruhern by 65 runs on the first innings. Golding (35) and Lasker (31) made an invnluablo partnership for the fourth wicket for Taruheru, putting on 62 runs. Sedon (17) and Sims (14) also batted well. Hodgkinson bowled well for Gisborno, scouring six wickets for 23 runs. He bagged four wiokots in his last two overs without a run being scored. Gisborne did not got going, the veteran bowlor Charles being particularly destructive. He secured eight wickets for 26 runs. Gibson and Ross (11 each) and MoPherson (12) were the only double-figure scorers. Afternoon toa was provided by the Taruheru Club, which was kindly dispensed by Mrß Charles, assisted by other ladies.
