(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At an interview botwoon the Miniator for Minos and tho Thames Drainage Board, tbo Mayor offered to hand over tho Thamos Hauraki pump, now ownod by tho Government, to tho Board, and to lot them unwator tho mines with it, if they pay interest on £6OOO, which the Government paid whon the pump [fell into their hands. Tho Boord subsequently met and deoidod to rccommond tho now Board to aocopt tho offer. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward arrived at Onohunga yesterday, and proceeded to llotorua. Lady Ward stays there a few weeks, but Sir Joseph returns to Auckland to-day, and will accompany His Excellency tho Governor to Cambridge Sanatorium. In tho course of conversation with Mr Lawry, M.H.8., Sir Joseph Ward stated that tho time of arrival of tho stoamers at Onehunga was somowhat oloso to the express, and it sometimes hsppenod that steamers missed connection to Botoruo. Sir Joseph statod that before leaving Wellington he had given instructions to have a freßh time-tablo prepared, altering the time of departure of tho express from Welton to 8 o’olook, instead of 9.20, ob at present. This would moan that steamers would leavo Now Plymouth an hour and twenty minutes oarlior. This alteration would also involve an alteration in the sorvioo in tho Middle Island, and this was being attended to. The change would come into operation on Maroh Ist.
