As each player stepped forward his play was keenly watched, and there was no stinting of applause whenever it was deserved, which was very frequent. But the climax was remarkable. The victory in the championship of the North Island was certainly the greater; oh account o! the splendid game played by the Carlton team, who, though unsuccessful, deserve all praiso for the brilliance of their Play.
