OAMARU NEWS.

Per Press Association. Oawaru, last night. The Kurow hotel, occupied by A. W. Simmons, and owned by W. Goddard, of Sydney, was destroyed by fire yesterday. Tbe building was of stone, and contained 32 rooms. A small portion of the furni ture was saved, also a few oases of spirits. •Tbe National Bank bad a narrow escape, Ooalbrook’s yard caught through the burning spirits flowing it. Tbe building was insured for £I2OO, "furniture £BSO, both in the Boyal. Iu the Magistrate’s Court Captain Wray, S.M., inflicted a fiao of L2 or 14 days’ imprisonment on Alfred Millen and George MoKeozio for having liquor in their possession while subjeot to pcohibi tion orders. John Ward, for proouriDg liquor for a prohibited person, was fined L 5 or one month’s imprisonment. Richard Diyer, for procuring liquor wbiie prohibited, was fined L2, or 14 days.
