OHAMPION FOURS TOURNAMENT.

THIRD DAY’S PLAY.

Tho weather yesterday was gloriously fino for tho third day of tho Northern Bowling Association’s tournament, and some very oxoiting games wore witnessed. There was a largo number of visitors at tho green during tho day, and groat interest was taken in tho proceedings. The suooess of tho Gisborne representatives in their several matches was hailed with the utmost delight, and the oiub’s prospeots of again carrying off tho banner aro the brightest. Afternoon too was provided by Mrs F. Martin, who was assisted by Mesdames E. Williams and Rossbotham, and a number of young ladies. Remueru 20 FeUding 12 On tho 7th head Remuera were 4 to 9> but on tho 14th head had improved their position to 14 to 10. Remuera kept their lead, and on the 20th head were 19 to 12, adding another single on the final.

Ponsonby 29 Fatea 12 This was a runaway game for Ponsonby, who won by 17 points, Auckland 18 Greenmeadows 16 Oa the 7th head the score was Auckland 5, Greenmeadows 6. and at the 14th head Auokland were 15 to 8. Greenmeadows then scored on the next 4 heads, making the score on the 18th head. Auokland 15, Greenmeadows 18. Cn the 20th head the score was 16 all. On the final head Lyons drew splendidly to the jack, leaving Auckland lying one. Kennedy drove the shot but shifted tbo jack also, leaving Auckland lying 2.

Gisborne 26 Wellington 16 This was a splendid game, the difference in the score.nevor being more than 4 till the 18th head. On the 12th head the scores were 12 all, Wellington scoring 2 on the next head. On the 14th head Gisborne, by splendid drawing, soored 5 on the next bead, making the score on the 14th head, Gisborne 17, Wellington 14. Gisborne then scored a single and Auckland 2 □ingles, making the score on the 17th head, Gisborne 18, Wellington 16. Gisborne scored on the next 4 heads, winning by 10 points.

Napier 33 Kaiti 18 Napier had all the advantage in this game, winning by 20 points. Carlton 28 Hastings 9

Carlton commenced auspiciously, flooring 4 on the Ist head, then 3 singles, 4 on the sch head, 2 on the 6th, a single, and 2 on toe Bth head, being 16 to Hastings nil. On the 9th head Carlton were lying on the

jack, bat Beataon drove the bowl with an excellent shot, and scored 3. On the next head Hastings were lying 2, but Kilgour drew the shot splendidly and scored 8. The game was a runaway for Carlton, who won oy 18 points. Whataupoko 27 Hawnra 8 Wbataupoko went ahead steadily, scoring 2 on the 3rd head, and 3—2—3 on the succeeding heads. On the 10th head they were 14 to 4, and on the 18th head 21 to 7, winning by 19 points. Rocky Nook 21 Victoria 19

Victoria went ahead from the start, and at tbe 6,b head had scored 11 to Hooky Nook’s nil. Tue northern team then commenced with 2 threes on the 7th and Bth beads, 2on tue 10ih, 4 on the 11th, and on the 12th head tbe score was Victoria 12, Kucky Nook 13. O a the 14th head the scores were 16 all, and 19 on the 19th head. Kooky Nook scored a couple of singles on the last two heads, winning by 2 points.

Wanganui 19 Te Ran 15 Wanganui commenced well .with 3 on the first head, and 3 on the sch head, and on the l'2sh head were 12 to 9. On the 17th bead Wanganui stid had a lead of 3, aod ultimately won by 4 points. Masterton 28 Petone 17 Mastertoa started well, aod on the 7th head had scored 12 to 5, bet Fetono equalised matters on the 13th head. Masterton then steadily drew ahead, and at the 19oh head weio 25 to 17, which they increased to 28 on the last head.

(Eighth Bound.) Wellington 24 Eaiti 13 I The former commenced scoring from I the start, and were 7 to 1 on the sth head. On the next head Haiti were lying 2 down, but Witty drew the jack and scored 1. On the 10th head Wellington had increased their score to 14—4. On the 14th head I Wellington had soored 16 to Haiti’s 9- On I the 20th head Wellidgton had soored 22 I to 13, scoring 2 on the final. Gisborne 22 Auckland 16 Auckland "cored 2 on the Ist head, Gisborne replying with 4 singles. On the Bth ' head Gisborne had soored Bto 4. On the [ 12th head Gisborne had increased their score to 17 to 5. On the 14th head the score was Auckland 8 to Gisborne 17. Gisborne soored 3 on the 18th head, giving I them a lead of 7. On every head there I was some fine play, with magnificent shots I and draws on either side. Auckland made I a harder fight of it than the scoring showed. From the 10th to the 17th head I Auckland succeeded in keeping the GisI borne score down to singles, while AuckI land could only put ou 5 up to the 12th I head.
