The treasurer of the Auckland Harbor Board submitted to yesterday’s meeting a statement of the inoome of the Board for
the past year. The net revenue for 1904 amounted to L 71.908, the largest amount received in any year since the Board was constituted. In 1872 the income was L 12.498. This, by comparison with 1904, gives an increase of L 59.410, showing that the revenue ha 3 increased to almost six times as much as it was in 1872. The Customs Department has informed
the Harbor Board that it has no authority to remit the duty on machinery for lighting Rangitoto beacon, and the Commissioner is unable to see his way to plaoe a sum on the next estimates to oover a refund. The department oonsiders the oase differs from that of Calliope Dock machinery, in that the Imperial Government was a large contributor to the cost of the latter. Mr Napier suggested that an application for a refund through the estimates should be made to the Colonial Treasurer, aud this was agreed to. The total plaints lodged in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court last year were 8283, an increase of a thousand. The amount sued for was L 35.300, of which L 19.975 was recovered. The criminal cases totalled 4460, and the fines and fees amounted to L 1796.
" The body of a young man, found drowned yesterday, is still unidentified, though over 400 people haye visited the morgue.
