The weather was gloriously fine foe lb» seoond day’s ploy id connection with the Northern B. wiing Association's 'tourna- _ moot Tho greens were in excellent order, and reflected groat credit upon the coretaker, Mr F. Taosley, who was the re- - oipient oi much congratulation tnercon. The arrangements for luncheon were in s the hands of Mr J. Craig, who provided B splendid spread. , [ Afternoon tea was provided by /»«• ■; j dames W. Pettie, C. P. Davies, and. W. Cooper (Waioui), who were assisted by a [ number of other ladies. Tho tables Were beautifully deooiated in the colors of lh| Gisborne Club, and were greatly admired y J Iby the visitors to the green. CHAMPION OF GHAMPIONB SINGLES COMPETITION. . Considerable interest is being taken i a the championship singles competition’ whioh will be deoided on Friday'next." So * far 24 clubs have decided on a representslive, and it is likely that another half-a--JU dozen entries will come to hand before the ' time for closing to-morrow. Tn -the majority of oases those entered are the champions of their' own olnbs, but In several cases in the absence of champions, other players of note have been selected. Dannevirke had tha lead to the Bth head, when a" timely 3 gave Bemaera ; a temporary lead, bat on the lltb head Dannevirke - was i-gain a point to the good. The Hawke's Bay Olnb drew away for the next few bat Remuera finished strongly, sad e % clever 6 on the 19ih run up saw them - home by 24 to 19.

ton victorious by a point, but -not without a lot of hard palling up. Auckland had all the best of it in the early sieges of the ; game, on the 11th head having a lead of 7, the scores being 46 to 9. Raliingsr’n rink got 3 in on the 12th head, and tearing steadily in singles from that on were only - 2 points . behind their opponents on. the 20th head. Fortune sometimes favors tha . brave, and after 6 successive singles tha - - Wellington quartette obtained 8 points ca the last head, winning by 21 to 20 amidst excitement. Haiti made a runaway game of this.,. - matob, and won by 28 to 8. .Napier ... ... -18 Feilding .... 17 Napier held the lead for. the greater portion of the game, but a timely four on the last head but one gave Feilding a point to the good. Napier got 1 in on the last head and made a draw of tbs game. .lathe play off Feilding got a pom* in, arid iy won by 18 to 17. .-.re'--
Gisborne ... 20 Ponsonby ... 18 The looa! Club got away with the lead and were never headed, winning by 20 to 18. - -a*
FIF TH ROUND* Greenmeadows ... 25 Napier ... 7 This was a runaway game for Greenmeadows, who maintained -their, on. broken reoord bo far. Dannevirke ... 20 Patea ... 19 This was a splendidly contested game throughout, the aooring being fairly even on each head. Patea got a lead of 8 on the 20th head, and Dannevirke were only able to reduce this by 1 on the concluding head, Dannevirke thus winning by a point, Auokland ... 24 Remuera ... 15
Getting away with the good lead of 6 on the let head Auokland held their opponents safe throughout, Remuera not at any stage getting within 3 points of winners. Feilding ... 24 Wellington ... I<H ~ Theteam from the Empire City met their Waterloo in this match, whioh it was thought would at least have been very close. Feilding were away with a start from the outset, and at the 7th head had 7to their opponents 8. On the 14lh head they had double their opponents soots, and increasing the lead won by 14; Ponsonby ... 20 Haiti ... ... 15 * Up to the 16th head this was a • very closely contested game, the teams-being ? e 9U“h On the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th heads Ponsonby scored, and had a lead of o on the last head when. Whataupoko led the 13th head, wheo Masterton secured 4 points. The soorea were equal on the 19lh head, but Masterton were sucoeesfnl in getting 3 in dn the 29th head, the game resulting 20 to 18. Rooky Nook 28 Te Ran ... "17
From the 7th head Rooky Nook led and won by 28 to 17. The local team were very rinlucky. .On the 10ih head, when tying 6, their skip ran the jaek afoot, giving the Qppoiits elae the ebot.
