Australasian indebtedness was not too heavy to be borne, but suspension of borrowing is desirable. It adds: Adequate sinking funds ought to accompany internal retrenchment. Otto Nordenskold. in a long article in tho Times, describes the operations of tho late Swedish Antarctic expedition. He states he found at Seymour Islaud and elsewhero traces of largo fossil animals and rich fossil flora,
A punitive expedition was despatched against the Ibbatoos tribe for attempting to kill the British Commissioner at Ekat, Southern Nigeria. In the course of two months’ successful operations tho expedition destroyed fifteen villages in the Oron country, killing many natives and losing only ono man, It is unlikely tho natives will again caußO trouble by hindering trade.
