MOTU V. GISBORNE

The second match of the tour was played yesterday on the Recreation Ground against a combined Gisborne team, and was won by Gisborne by 17 runs on the first innings. Gisborne batted first and made 46. Lang, Raymond, W. and T. Gibson, and J. Ferris making the runs. The bowling of Motu was very good. Each of the five bowlers tried had to be treated with respect. Upon going to the wickets Motu only made 29 ; Andrews 9. W, Gibson took five wickets for 10 runs and Porter three for 15. In their second innings Gisborno compiled 51; W. Gibson (retired) 23 and J. Ferris 7. Reed was the most successful with the ball, taking three wickets for 8 runs. At the call of time Motu had lost three wickets for 13 runs ; Reed (not out) 8. Tho Motu team began the first match of their tour on Monday, when a very close game was played with Te Karaka, the latter winning by 9 runs. W. Small was captain of the visitors, and F.
