Recoived 9.50 p.m., Dec. 29. Sydney, Dec. 29. New South Wales, in oheir second innings, made 180, the principal scores being Carter 88, Diamond 39, d’ye 32. Black 32. Queensland have lost two wickets for 172, Patrick 56, Foster (not out) 69. Melbourne, Dec. 29. The weather is dull and the wicket sodden. Victoria, in their livst innings, made 312, Trumble 80, McLeod (not out) 30, and in their second innings have lost no wickets for 29. New South Wales, in their first innings, scored 183, Dull’ -11, Kelly 31,Trumper 43. McLeod took seven wickets for 34. THE SECOND TEST MATCH, AUSTRALIAN TEAM NOT YET SELECTED. It is understood the selection committco aro dolaying the final selection to sco if McLood keeps up his form. Possibly he will bo choson iu place of either Hopkins or Saunders. It is expected that Trumble will displace Laver.

INTER-ISLAND MATCH. (Per Press Association Christchurch, last night. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council it was decided to play the inter-island match at Wellington on Jail'd’ ary 20th, 21st, and 22nd, on tho Basin Resorve. Mr J. V. Fowko was appointed selector. The secretary recoived information of the full strength of tho South Island available for the match.
