LONDON OPINION,

By Telegraph—Prcs3 Association—Copyright London, Dec, 24. Tho Financial Times says the result of the subscription loan may apparently bo considered satisfactory. New Zealand, it is to bo hoped, wiii inauco the Australasian colonies to continue tbe cultivation of the Australasian capitalist. Received 9.30 a.m., Dec 27 , London, Dee. 25.

The Morning Post asserts that judging by the figures cabled tho average for which each tenderer applied for the New Zealand loan is fifteen thousand, henoe the loan must still be peddled out-to small investore. Per Press Associatloa.

Dunedin, last night. Interviewed on Friday with respect to the loan, Mr Seddon said : —“ I consider tbe results exceedingly satisfactory considering that local bodies have been borrowing very heavily for tramways and other purposes. Then there is the trouble in tbe East, and owiDg to this investors aro looking forward to getting a higher rate of interest, and are holding the moneys for that purpose. Comparing tbe present loan with our last loan, £300,000 raised locally, ar.d taking the number of subscribers now and then, there i 3 a marked improvement, and it must not be forgotten that people have been getting debentures over the counter for tho last month. Tho money is spread over tbe colony, and very little came from Australia, quite a small moiet-y.”
