(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A young man, aged 20, whose name is believed to bo Kelly, was knocked down in Queen street while attempting to cross in front of an electric car. The front wheel passed over his right arm above the elbow, crushing it badly. He was also badly injured about the head, aud was conveyed to the hospital. Tho man injured by a tramcar is Alfred Kelly, a m dent of Grey street. PAHIATUA, last night. A girl, aged nino years, daughter of a settler named Beckett at Kaitawa, was drowned whilst crossing a shallow in the Tirauma with her sister. She fell, and the current “carried her into deep water. All the dairies are flourishing, there boing an abundanco of grass everywhere. BLENHEIM, last night. A youth Darned Harold Gill bocame entangled in tho machinery of a fiaxmill at Blind river yesterday, and received injuries of a severe naturo. Ho died in the hospital this morning. CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Mr Isaac Gibbs, general manager of tho New Zealand Shipping Company, to-day received cable advice from the Loudon office of the death of Sit Edwyn S. Dawes, ohairman of directors of theLoudon Board of the Company. Sir Edwyn died at midnight on Monday ot Tcneriffe, whero he had intended spending tho winter. DUNEDIN, last night. The Patriotic Fund Committee interviewed the Premier and presented a statement of .moneys disbursed throughout the colony, amounting in all to £7600. The Committee bad of its own funds £920 left and some half-dozen apparently. permanent cases on their hands. The deputation asked Mr Seddon to provide for cases where men had tried and failed to keep. off the fund, and after years, thus forfeiting a legal right, had to asdc assistance. The Premier very warnily thanked Otago for its loyal support, and said he would certainly consider such cases. He thought, they should be rather encouraged than shunted off. INVERCARGILL, last night. Robert Williamson, manager of the Undaunted Gold Mice, Nevis, was killed, by a fall of earth.' lie was aged 10 and unmarried.
