THE STATE LOAN.

SUCCESSFULLY FLOATED. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Tenders for the half-million loan, which was floated locally, closed at noon to-day. They were opened in the presence of the presence of the Minister for Railways, Sir Joseph Ward, and officials of the Treasury. Forty-seven tenders were received, in ail amounting to £677,000. All amounts under £IO,OOO will be allotted in full. There were no Australian tenders.

Dunedin, last night. Tho subscription of the New Zealand Government loan of £500,000, at 4 per cent., closed to day. The sum of £676,150 in 47 tenders was subscribed. All under £IO,OOO will be allowed in full. The Premier considers the result very satisfactory, and will tend to improve the position within and outside the colony. In his opinion the most satisfactory feature is the number of subscribers.
