Per Press Association. Napior, last night. Tho Wellington v. Hawke’s Bay cricket match was resumed to-day, the wicket being rather slow. Wellington’s first innings closed for 268, or 25 runs behind Hawke’s Bay. A. Staples 78, Queo 50, and Opham 46, oach showing good form. In their second innings Hawke’s Bay have scored 48 runs without tho loss of a wicket.

WAIRAKAIA V. TE ARAI.

A very interesting ganio of crickot was played yesterday between the above Clubs. To Arai batted first and scored 46, Wairakaia following with 86. In their second venrure To Arai mado 85, McConnell being the top scorer with 22. With 45 runs to' get to savo defeat Wairakaia wont in for their second innings, and put up 40 runs for five wickets. Here one of those things that is the charm of cricket, and makes the game an uncertainty until tho lost wicket is down, occurred. McConnell, the popular Union bowler, took tv/o wickets with successive balls, and this feat was followed by Kauri, a promising colt, dismissing tho threo last Wairakaia men with tho three last balls of his over, doing tho “ hat trick," and winning tho game for his side by ono run.
