THE CASE OF A VETERAN.
(To the Editor of the Times).-
.Sir,—l have waited patiently to sec if any would take up the case of Janies Spencer, but so far no one has spoken. Here is the c;>?e of a veteran soldier brought up from boyhood in the army, who served his country, exposed himself to disease in India, and risked death' by murderous Sepoys. He is, I believe, a single man, and quiet and inoffensive at all times, and Mr R. Johnston, J.P., spoke manfully for him, I trust that our worthy Magistrate, Mr Barton, will restore the pension, and save the old soldier from hardship, especially as Christmas is so near.—l am, etc., .
