MATAWHEKO SCHOOL CADETS.

i At tho Kaiti riflo range on Ssturday, the i Matawhere School Cadets held their first i shooting match of the season, a squad of them putting in some fair shooting. The result showed the hoys to be mostly second-class shots, though no doubt they will improve considerably on practice. The top scorer was P. Marshall with 61, the possiblo being 84. At the 200yds range, P. Marshall scored the highest (21) out of a possible 28, the other lads being unable to find the bull’s-eye. Tidswed, Marshall, and C. Aisiabie scored tho most marks at the 150yds. The boys, at tLe 100yds, had no difficulty in placing the target, one lad after another scoring bull’seyes. The possiblo (28) was made by C. Aisiabie, C. Gray making 27, and W. Ashdown 24. On tho whole the shooting capabilities of tho boys proved very fair. Mr Marshall, their instructor, superintended the firing, the marking beiDg done by Mr Nasmith.
