CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES.
~ (Per- Press Association,! Christchurch, last night. At the second wool salp, held to-day, there was a large attendance of buyers, representing Continental and English firms as well as local factories and fellraongeries. The recent weakening of the Ltndon markets brought about reduction limits by fore’gn buyers, particularly in regard to coarse wool, and as owners bad not sufficiently readjusted values a large proportion of the lots submitted were passed. Half-breds and merinos about maintained recent values, thanks to the competition of the local woollen mill representatives, Bellies and pieces were competed for keenly by local scourers, and sold exceptionally well. Crossbred wools showed a decline of from -Jd to Id per lb as compared with the first sale of the present season. The range of prices was : Greasy merino super lOd to 10£d per lb, medium to good to BJd, greasy bait-bred superior 9dto, lOd, medium 7Jd_ to Bsd, inferior_6d to: 6Jd, greasy crossbred superior 64d to 7Ad,i medium ojd to 64d, inferior 5d to o£d, greasy Jongwooi s£d to 6|d, Down wool to 7Jd, qnarter-bred 91d ; pieces, merino 7£d to 9£d, half-bred 4£d to crossbred 4d to o£d.
