.(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night,
The {ixfiSß to day entered a nolle prosequi in tho cases against the principals charged with .keeping a gaming house, known as the Qiyippic Club, in which cases three juries had'failed topfttee. The Chief Justice said two of the jup'esdid not answer tho very plain question of whether the tossing of two penny pieces was a gutno of cbaDce. The result of the trials should cause heart-searchings in the community, aDd should be enquired into. If the precedent set by these juries was to be followed, it seemed to him there would be .ftp use hereafter in trying any charge against .ecy person for keeping a gaming house in Wellington. If the moral sense of some of oar .citizens was so perverted by the gambling spirit; it was a question for the community whether the State should continue to legalise gambling, from which it derives a benefit. It was ajso a j question whethor the unuoimity of jurors in criminal casos should be insisted un.
